UAE’s G42 Explands AI Chip Supplier Network Beyond Nvidia

UAE-backed technology firm G42 is actively diversifying its AI chip suppliers, moving beyond Nvidia to engage with Qualcomm, AMD, and Cerebras Systems. The expansion aims to secure semiconductor supply for its ambitious 5-gigawatt AI data center campus, a joint venture between the UAE and the U.S. announced during former President Donald Trump's visit.

Concerns have emerged among U.S. officials regarding the national security implications of chip export deals signed during Trump's UAE trip, which reportedly exceeded $200 billion in value. Meanwhile, Huawei's tentative discussions to supply Ascend 910B chips to G42 remain in early stages, with the Chinese firm's capacity still trailing Nvidia's established regional dominance.

The AI campus project has attracted interest from major tech players including AWS, Microsoft, Meta, and xAI, all vying for access to the UAE's massive planned data center capacity. This development underscores the growing strategic importance of AI infrastructure in global technology partnerships.
